I recently returned from my Italian vacation with renewed inspiration; hearing another language, eating different foods, and experiencing a different way of living truly has made me rethink the way I live life and do business. In fact, while I was there, I took the opportunity to attend a networking meeting and meet other successful entrepreneurs and business owners.
So this got me thinking about what I can do to be successful and help my business grow. Here are some suggestions:
Set A New Goal – Anyone who owns a business knows it’s a lot of hard work, but are you just coasting by or are you truly striving to take your business to another level? Set a new business goal for the year and hold yourself accountable at least once a month by reviewing how far along you’ve come.
Take Risks – Starting a business when you have a nice steady job is a risk, but that’s what I did when I started DM Accounting. I could have stayed with the status quo at a large CPA firm and still made a good living, but now I’m bringing in significantly more revenue as a business owner than I was as an employee. Going to the networking meeting in Italy was nerve-wracking, but I actually left there with some new referrals to take back to the U.S.
Work Hard – If you want to be the best, then you need to work hard. Just ask basketball star Ray Allen. Allen is known for his free throw abilities, but during the playoffs, he couldn’t get the ball in the basket. Allen got to practice early and stayed late every night throughout the playoffs. Eventually, he helped bring his team to victory!
Stay Smart – No matter what your profession, make sure you continue learning and refreshing your skills. Take a course or read up on the latest in your profession so you can stay at the forefront in your field.
Now’s the time to take advantage of opportunities, seek success by setting new goals, and live life to the fullest.
Ciao bella!
