Strategic Bookkeeping Delivers Results

October, 7 2018

A day in the life of a bookkeeper or accountant isn’t always very flashy. It’s not about making new laws or creating controversy (although at times we are sought out to help solve a financial crisis). It’s usually mundane, but can be exciting at times.

Every single day I go to work, I have a semi-routine. I might not do the same things daily, I might not talk to the same people daily, but I do ask myself the same things every day and these series of questions benefit not only my business, but all of my clients. Here are some the daily questions floating around in my head:

  • WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO MY CLIENT’S BUSINESS?

All bookkeepers and accountants should know what is important to a client’s business. Is your client the owner of a startup business and looking to earn seven figures within two to five years? Does your client want to expand overseas? Or is your client looking ahead at retirement or selling his or her business? By knowing what’s important to our clients’ businesses, Brigade Bookkeeping helps forecast and then plan for financial freedom and better results.

  • HOW CAN I KEEP MY CLIENTS HAPPY?

Is there a faster and more reliable way to keep my clients’ books? Can I ensure my client is happy, and also follow federal guidelines so the IRS is happy too? You know the saying, “the customer is always right” applies to all businesses, including bookkeeping. So at Brigade Bookkeeping, I ask myself every day, “how can I keep clients happy?” My brilliant staff helps me achieve this huge priority.

  • ARE THERE ANY NEW REGULATORY CHANGES?

The IRS is constantly changing tax laws and codes, so it’s important for your accountant or bookkeeper to keep up with any regulatory changes. There are standard deductions, personal exemptions, estate taxes, corporate tax changes, and so many more to know about. Having a knowledgeable accountant or bookkeeper is fundamental to the financial growth and viability of your business.

  • HOW DO I IMPROVE EFFICIENCY?

Bookkeeping can be a tedious task; every day, week or month, there are invoices to send, accounts receivable to track, and credit cards and bank accounts to reconcile. At Brigade Bookkeeping, we’re always looking for ways to streamline workflow without making mistakes or compromising quality. We use the latest technology, accounting, and bookkeeping tools to improve efficiency for our clients.

If you have an accountant or bookkeeper, I hope they are asking themselves the same questions or similar ones. Daily reflection, research, or interest from your accountant or bookkeeper means he or she is truly invested in your business and its future. That adds up to a positive return on your investment and potentially a brighter financial future.
