It’s still January, so I can still say, Happy New Year! For me personally, 2014 brought so many changes. We changed the name our company to Brigade Bookkeeping in September. Then in December, we had a lot of books to close, many holiday gatherings, and a wonderful family trip to Paris!
Exactly one year ago, we also welcomed a special member to the Brigade Bookkeeping team, Nely Oaks. Nely is a Staff Accountant, who helps our team get your books in order. So this week, we thought you should know a little bit more about her.
Nely is a hero and we mean that in the true sense of the word. She has a Bachelors and a Masters Degree in Accounting from Southern Illinois University in Edwardsville. But after that, she didn’t just wind up at a desk job, she served in the U.S. Army working her way up to the rank of sergeant.
During her service, then Sgt. Nely Ramos met her husband, Patrick Oaks and the two were married. She has lived in Texas, Washington, Nebraska, Georgia and South Carolina. She was even stationed in Bogota, Colombia, where she served as a liaison for the U.S. Embassy for four months.
Today, Nely and Patrick call South Florida home. They have a bright three-year-old son, Gabriel, who loves superheroes. Spiderman is his favorite!
When Nely is not in the office, she is out with her family discovering new adventures, like visiting the beach, Disney World and the zoo. Her goal now is to have a fun time and create wonderful memories, while living by her motto: “Strength and Honor.”
